4. What can you tell me about the local geography and how it affects well drilling in Livingston County and other counties you work in?
In Livingston County, we drill into a single aquifer with different veins, which can cause variations in water pressure, speed per minute, and different contaminants. Methane, arsenic, nitrates, VOCs and PFAS are more limited in this area, while more prevalent in Oakland County.
In Oakland County, VOCs, PFAS, and arsenic are more common. When VOCs or PFAS are present, we drill steel casing to protect the well, and if arsenic levels exceed 10 parts per billion, we install a reverse osmosis system.
5. What’s the difference between reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and do I need a professional-grade system?
Simple reverse osmosis systems that you can purchase at stores typically provide very little reduction in contamination. To reduce arsenic below regulations, a more sophisticated RO system is required. We can help recommend and install a system designed to meet the specific needs of your water.
6. What types of water contaminants are common in your service areas?
In the City of Brighton and South Lyon, the city water is very hard, with prevalent levels of lime and calcium that can cause buildup on pipes and hardware. In Lake Chemung, water contains elevated iron and nitrates, which can result in yellow-colored water. We provide treatment solutions to address these common water quality issues.
7. How many wells have you drilled in the history of your business?
We drill approximately 500 wells each year. Since our founding, that adds up to around 25,000 wells installed, reflecting our extensive experience and expertise in well drilling throughout Southeast Michigan.

9. What type of site or project cleanup does your team provide?
We understand that a messy worksite can be frustrating, so we take care to leave your property in the best possible condition after a project. We rake and level the yard as much as possible and offer vacuum trucks to remove spoils from the well drilling and haul the dirt off-site for proper disposal. We can also use ground mats to protect your lawn and offer horizontal or directional boring to avoid trenching and open cutting too much of the landscape.
10. Do most wells in Livingston and nearby counties require additional water treatment?
Yes, most homes require some amount of water treatment, which can include simple systems like water softeners and filters. We recommend having your water tested in a professional lab to detect contaminants that less sensitive tests may miss.

11. What type of well maintenance do you offer?
Depending on the type of well you have, regular maintenance can improve its function and extend its lifespan. Well pumps with four-inch steel casing, which were popular until the last couple of decades, are more subject to corrosion and buildup. We provide maintenance services to address these issues and keep your well operating efficiently.
We offer well cleaning specifically for four-inch steel-casing, which can help reduce bad odors, improve taste, and decrease the frequency of filter changes. Over time, the casing itself can deteriorate, rust, rot, or dissolve, which may cause unpleasant smells or require more frequent maintenance. 12. What are the signs that my well casing has deteriorated?
If a well casing deteriorates too much, cracks or leaks can develop, causing a leaky pump which then requires the pump to work overtime. You may notice water pooling around the pump or a significant amount of sediment in your water. A pump that runs nearly continuously may also signal a leak or problem with the casing.
13. What type of casing do you use on your wells?
We use five-inch casings that do not corrode, along with all brass and stainless screens and parts. Many companies use slotted PVC screens/casing to save money, but our choice of materials provides greater durability and more water flow.
14. What are the signs that my well pump is failing?
Signs of a failing well pump can include low water pressure, low water volume, and pulsating flow. A pump that runs continuously could also indicate a leak. If you notice any of these signs, it’s a good idea to have your well inspected promptly.
15. When should I have my well water tested?
We recommend conducting an independent water test whenever you move into a new home. Testing is also important if your water has an unusual odor or taste, if you notice lots of sediment buildup, if your well is very old, or if you are concerned about environmental contaminants in your water supply.
